Humanism and illustration promote the emergence of a new form of orchards that becomes a living example of plant diversity: The Botanical Garden. This garden of the walls collects these two traditions, becoming, by vocation, aesthetic and for collecting a catalog of species mainly aromatic, spicy and mediterranean in a HORTUS BOTANICUS.

The garden is located in the "walled enclosure of el Rafalí", in the highest part of the town where the door that communicated the old urban nucleus with the Rebollet's castle was located. This space has been declared of Cultural Interest (BIC) and we find, besides the garden, the most important remains of the defensive wall that surrounded the population (about 130 m) with constructive signs of two towers and dating from s. XIV. In addition, this space has a large esplanade that is used for the realization of concerts, workshops, recitals and other cultural and festive activities.

With more than 50 species, the garden is an important space of the most representative plants traditionally used, in very different areas such as the kitchen (pepper, tarragon), infusions and teas (melissa, chamomiles, poleo), to perfume and protect clothing (lavenders), to make useful as shoes, slippers, esparto, and so a long etc.

The garden also wants to arouse the curiosity and interest of the visitor for botany, for the richness of our lands and more broadly for respect and esteem for the natural environment that surrounds us and does so through the living element more accessible, more diverse, more varied and if known well, more surprising: THE PLANTS.

The garden is a nice place, quiet and quiet, protected and collected. Strolling along the winding paths, sit on a bench and listen to the bells or enjoy the colors and the aromas of the garden are unique experiences that make it worth the visit.
